At 3h26 AM, Saint-Hyacinthe's fire department received a call for a residential fire on St-Pierre West st. Upon arrival, firefighters saw flammes coming out of one of the building's doors. A 10-07 code was immediately given to dispatch.
Since the exterior wall was empty on the entire height of the building (no separation at the 2nd floor), the fire quickly spread, requiring a 10-09 at 4h12.
Firefighters succeeded in controlling the blaze before it spread to the entire building. In total, 19 firefighters and officers were involved in the operation.
