St-Hyacinthe firefighters and paramedics organized a haz-mat training simulation. According to the fictitious, a product X was spilled in a room on the 2nd floor of a building. One person was last seen in the room involved, while another successfully made it outside the building but collapsed. Paramedics on-scene then recognized and declared a haz-mat incident, but had to remain close to the victim outside because they were already contaminated. The first fire engine on scene established safety perimeters and called the haz-mat incident response team. The team then installed the decontamination corridor and prepared the designated haz-mat technicians to get the victims.
Note: Some procedures have been modified/adapted/circumvented for the purposes of the SIMULATION only. They do not necessarily consitute recommended procedures.
